Engineering Open House (4/25-26/2008)
The Open House was a big success with many visitors and a live machining show.

Haas Mill Online (4/7/2008)
It was a long road, but finally our HAAS CNC Mill and CNC lathe are now online.

Alex O'Conner is getting ready for demo for the engineering open house on April 25-26. Come by the Traditional Machine Lab (room 129) for a visit!

Master's Review (3/13/2008)

Trent Greenwell presented his Master's Thesis "Measurement of Displacement Fields In FSW Titanium Joints Under Tension Using Moire Interferometry". Excellence work!! It's great to see that Trent is not superstitious, it being the 13th in all! :) .

Boeing Field Trip (2/7/2008)
The field trip to Boeing's Advanced Metal Forming Building was awesome. Many thanks to Paul Edwards & Dan Sanders.

MTS Alignment (2/6/2008)
Completion of MTS Alignment for Fatigue study. The following picture is courtesy of our partner: Dr. Flinn from the Material Science Department.

Good alignment of the grips is a key factor in fatigue testing. Improper alignment can induce a bending moment in the test specimen. Then during testing the bending moment results in a very high effective stress causing pre-mature failure of the test specimen and inconclusive test results.

Japan Visit (Summer 2007)
Profesor Ramulu enjoyed his visit to Japan. He visited many universities while in Japan. Gunma University was one of the many visited.

The above picture is Professor Ramulu dining with the administration of the International Students at Gunma University, some of the students (all from Vietnam) are on the right.
